Combier

Distillerie Combier is one of the oldest in the Loire Valley. It was founded in 1834 and has since been operating in the heart of the small town of Saumur. Due to its location in the middle of the “Jardin de la France”, one can easily purchase local products such as fruit, flowers and aromatic plants and take advantage of the availability of exotic fruits and spices via the Loire. For almost two centuries, Combier has continued to create new elixirs that constitute an exceptional French heritage. Not least, they are recognized as the creators of the first Triple Sec. Yep, Jean-Baptiste Combier opened the pastry shop Combier-Destre in Saumur in the heart of the Loire Valley. In a still in the back of the shop he created in 1834 the famous “Triple Sec”, a well-known orange liqueur known today as “L’Original Combier”. Not bad, we say!
