Marie Antoinette is a fresh, balanced, and smooth vodka with notes of citrus fruits, white lilac, and lime blossom, reminiscent of a summer meadow.
Why is it called Marie Antoinette? It sounds a bit commercial… It isn’t – it’s because the wheat used in the production is actually harvested in the fields of the Versailles gardens! During the Enlightenment, Marie Antoinette established a group of farmers at the Château de Versailles who patiently selected the seeds that would become the “French wheat.” Every summer, the small fields still yield a few hundred kilos of wheat, which Combier has the honor of carefully harvesting and then distilling in small batches. Handcrafted in old steam distillation stills according to our predecessors’ recipes, nothing has changed since the old days, neither the distillery designed by Gustave Eiffel, the careful handling, the love of quality, nor the craftsmanship. So the name is well deserved, and that is precisely why it is only available in limited quantities. So don’t sleep on it when it’s in stock…
