Six years after founding Antica Torino and following the success of the wonderful Vermouth di Torino Rosso, Vittorio and Filippo decided to venture into producing what are considered some of the most important and typical Alpine liqueurs in the Piedmont region, one of which is Liqoure di Genziana.
Gentiana is a family of plants that thrives in the mountains up to three thousand meters above sea level in the Alps and Apennines in Italy. Gentian root has a unique bitterness and refreshing quality that has made it indispensable in traditional liqueurs for centuries. Perhaps no other liqueur style captures the true character of gentian better than the classic Italian Liqoure di Genziana. Antica Torino’s Genziana opens with a fresh citrus and herbal bitterness that lingers elegantly on the tongue in a bold yet lively expression. In cocktails, this is a highly underrated ingredient, and we would recommend trying it as a twist in classics such as a White Negroni, but it undoubtedly works exceptionally well in a Yellow Cocktail. We have actually also developed a wonderful variation on the same theme that highlights the bitter citrus notes of gentian in beautiful harmony with the herbal notes of Elixir Combier. A match made in heaven! If you’ve been looking for something to elevate Suze-based cocktails to new heights, you’ve found it here, without a doubt!
